Taking these two medications together can increase the risk of developing blood clots, such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or a pulmonary embolism (clot in the lung). It may also increase the risk of cardiovascular issues like stroke or heart attack, particularly if you have other risk factors like smoking or high blood pressure.

Why this happens
Both medications contain progestogens (Provera is medroxyprogesterone, and Elleste Solo 2mg contains estradiol while the '10mg' part of a 2/10mg pack usually refers to dydrogesterone). Adding extra progestogen to an already combined hormone replacement therapy (HRT) regimen increases the total hormonal load on the body. This can thicken the blood and affect how it clots.

Seek immediate medical help if you experience sudden chest pain, shortness of breath, or painful swelling in one leg. If you smoke, it is strongly advised that you stop, as smoking significantly increases the risks associated with these hormone treatments.
