Can I take Airsupra and Flecainide together?

Drug interaction guide

Taking Airsupra (which contains albuterol and budesonide) alongside flecainide may increase the risk of developing an irregular heart rhythm or a fast heartbeat. It can also lead to low potassium levels in your blood, which makes the heart more sensitive to the effects of flecainide.

Why this happens

Albuterol (a component of Airsupra) can cause a fast heart rate and lower potassium levels. Flecainide is a medicine used to treat heart rhythm problems but can sometimes cause new rhythm issues if potassium is low or if the heart is over-stimulated. Budesonide (the steroid in Airsupra) can also contribute to potassium loss over long-term use.

You should use this combination only under the supervision of your doctor. They may want to monitor your heart rhythm (ECG) and check your blood potassium levels regularly. If you feel your heart racing, fluttering, or if you feel dizzy or faint, seek medical advice immediately.
