Why this happens
Both medications increase the levels of certain chemicals in the brain and body, such as norepinephrine (noradrenaline) and serotonin. When used together, these effects can add up, leading to excessive stimulation of the heart and nervous system. Amitriptyline can also slow down the breakdown of Elvanse in the body, making its effects stronger and longer-lasting.
