Why this happens
Amitriptyline belongs to a group of medicines that can affect how your blood platelets work. When combined with aspirin (which also thins the blood), the risk of bruising or internal bleeding is higher. Additionally, both drugs can be tough on the stomach lining.
What you should do
Back to contentsUse this combination with caution. If you are taking aspirin daily for heart protection, do not stop taking it, but inform your doctor you are also taking amitriptyline.
