Why this happens
Amitriptyline and paracetamol work in different ways and are processed by different pathways in the body. Amitriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant often used for nerve pain or sleep, while paracetamol is a simple painkiller and fever reducer. They do not interfere with each other's absorption, metabolism, or effectiveness.
What you should do

Always stick to the recommended dose of paracetamol (usually no more than eight 500mg tablets in 24 hours). If you feel unusually drowsy, speak to your doctor, as amitriptyline itself can cause tiredness.
