Drug interaction guide

There is no known direct interaction between atorvastatin and Chemydur 60XL (isosorbide mononitrate). These two medicines are often prescribed together to manage heart health. Atorvastatin lowers cholesterol, while Chemydur 60XL helps prevent chest pain (angina) by widening blood vessels.

Why this happens

Atorvastatin is processed by the liver (specifically the CYP3A4 enzyme), while Chemydur 60XL is processed differently and does not interfere with this pathway. They work on different systems in the body—one on fat production and the other on blood vessel relaxation—without affecting each other's levels or effectiveness.

You can safely take these medicines together as prescribed by your doctor. However, both medicines can occasionally cause headaches or dizziness. If you feel lightheaded, especially when standing up, or develop unusual muscle pain, speak to your pharmacist or GP. Always inform your doctor of any new supplements or lifestyle changes.
