Can I take Beclometasone dipropionate and Salbutamol together?

Drug interaction guide

There is no harmful interaction between these two medications. In fact, they are frequently prescribed together to manage asthma and COPD. Beclometasone is a 'preventer' inhaler that reduces swelling in the airways over time, while salbutamol is a 'reliever' inhaler that opens the airways quickly during a flare-up.

Why this happens

These drugs work in different but complementary ways. Beclometasone (a corticosteroid) reduces inflammation, while salbutamol (a beta-agonist) relaxes the muscles around the airways. They do not interfere with how the body absorbs or breaks down one another.

You can safely use both inhalers as prescribed by your doctor. If you need to use both at the same time, it is usually recommended to use the salbutamol (blue) inhaler first to open the airways, wait a few minutes, and then use the beclometasone (preventer) inhaler. Always rinse your mouth with water after using your beclometasone inhaler to prevent oral thrush.
